There has been comment in various media over the last few days regarding a couple of factoring companies namely Aston Rothbury and Davenhams.

Firstly it has been reported that Aston Rothbury have entered administration and now there are also reports that Davenham’s have ceased to write new business and started to collect in their outstanding loan book.

Both these companies previously occupied niches within the finance industry. Aston Rothbury were associated with larger more complex and difficult invoice finance deals whilst Davenhams were one of the few providers offering Trade Finance products in addition to invoice finance.

As always happens, other providers will take up the slack, for example, there have been recent moves by one main stream invoice finance company to move into the trade finance arena.
