Are UK businesses being over optimistic about the UK economy?

We recently published results of our market research survey of 100 SMEs that 73% of SMEs thought that the UK economy would improve over the course of 2010. 17% thought it would stay the same and only 10% thought it would decline.

The results are certainly in keeping with the prevailing opinions on various newsites and blogs around the web about the UK economy. However, there are a number of econoncic threats looming, not least of which was the news this morning in the Times online that a shock tax deficit has threatened to push the UK economy back into recession with some saying that the UK’s position could soon be worse than Greece!

Maybe those 10% of SMEs may be proved right after all!
